On 26th September 2019 Austria’s shortest tunnel was “opened to traffic” after 10 months of construction. After completion of this construction JES Elektrotechnik moved into modern headquarters conveniently located close to the Autobahn exit of Hallein in Austria. The opening ceremony was conducted as a part of this year’s Tunnel Symposium (customer event).
Finally JES will be enabled to pursue its international expansion which has been started in 2014. On 26th September the new corporate headquarters located in Wiestal-Landesstrasse 37 in Hallein, Austria have been officially inaugurated.
“We are pleased that we could find a suitable and conveniently connected plot in our home town Hallein. With the new headquarters we have built a new production and development facility with sufficient potential for further expansion. We enjoy working here and will continue our mission to bring more tunnelsafety from Austria to the world.” said JES managing partner René Jung during the opening ceremony.
On the opening day JES also held its 3rd Tunnel Symposium at the new headquarters. This customer event became a popular format of information exchange within the Austrian tunnel community. Over 100 participants met to learn about the newest developments in tunnel ventilation, tunnel lighting, tunnel rehabilitation and digitalisation.
In the evening the tunnel community gathered to open the presumably shortest tunnel in Austria with a length of not even 2 meters. This tunnel forms the entrance of the new JES headquarter and is fully equipped with a tunnel light and tunnel guidance markers. The shareholders of JES together with the mayor of Hallein cut the ribbon and opened the new headquarters “for traffic”.
JES invested 2.7 million Euros into the construction of its new headquarters which has a usable space of 930 m². The new building accomodates laboratories, workshops, offices and storage rooms. Construction had started in November 2018 and was finished in July 2019. The construction mainly involved local small and medium-sized businesses.
